The following have been deduced from Terranigma.

I believe the verb わたり is something to the effect of transporting or carrying. At least the term was also used to describe the gulls who carry you to different islands.

"He's not breathing anymore..."

I think the first character means breath.

I think it's saying something about how everyone individually fears the dark.

I think the first symbol on the last line means darkness.

I think that second symbol on the second line means hot or warm. It was also used in the symbols for hot springs.

I think she's basically saying the ice there is thin.

うすい - weak

The second to last symbol on the first line is most likely ice. But it looks an awful lot like the symbol for water.
